name: peony galfort
age: 30
setting: sunmark, a neighboring nation of parjol where peony grew up as the lady of the house galfort.
family: lily galfort (mother, deceased); juniper galfort (uncle, 57, keeper of her estate)
education: 11 years of primary school (5-16), 9 years of academic studies (16-25)
languages: parjish, sunnish, can talk to birds
sexuality: lesbian

background: less than a month before peony was born, her father - who had appeared at the house as suddenly as he disappeared from it, only a year prior - left on horseback, never to be seen again. peony's mother was heartbroken and vowed never to talk about him to her daughter whom she raised alone, hesitant about making new male acquaintances. however, tragedy struck and when peony was only five, her mother fell ill with a fever that the doctors couldn't cure and died in bed within days. the small girl was alone in the world, until a far-removed uncle came to her aid, juniper, and took over both the practicalities of running the estate as well as the challenge of raising peony. he became her new parent and she treated him as such. impossible to rein in, peony would spend twenty years educating herself, mostly because she could never settle with just one field of study and as soon as she'd tired one out, she would pick up another. it made her knowledgeable and it kept her occupied, but never satisfied her. she always felt there was more to the world than she could see, and she was always searching for new things to entertain herself with. most of the time she forgot her uncle wasn't her father, but sometimes she'd remember, mostly when looking in the mirror and seeing her fire-red hair. no one else in parjol had hair like that and neither had she heard of anyone outside of it who did. she didn't even know wether her father had had hair like hers, because no one would go against the deceased lady's wishes and tell the heiress of her father. besides, few of the servants left had actually seen him. one day, when she was 30 and still unmarried, something people would gossip about to no end, peony found some scrolls from the neighboring sunmark and read a legend about a fire-haired man. intrigued that this might be the clue she'd waited for so long, she put her uncle in charge of the house and packed for a long journey through sunmark with only her trusted maid for company.
